Time to graduate to the Kickstart Scheme?
The Kickstart Scheme offers 16 – 24-year-olds on Universal Credit the opportunity to undertake a six-month work placement.
Sioned Williams from Wrexham, a recent Animal Behaviour graduate from University of Wales Aberystwyth like many of her peers who graduated into a 2020 found herself unemployed in a job market paralysed by the pandemic.
Thanks to the Kickstart Scheme Sioned is working as a Customer Welfare Calls Assistant for North Wales Housing. Sioned was referred to apply for the vacancy by her Work Coach and was successful at interview.
Sioned’ s job role involves phoning up tenants to deal with complaints or remedy issues. Though she admits it’s not the job she wants to be in for life, Sioned is grateful for the experience, for having paid work, and for the opportunity to learn new skills including improving her communication skills.
