Daily duties

We at Kensington Hotel have two great vacancies available at our hotel serving delicious food in great surroundings. In our hotel we have 50 en-suite rooms newly furnished with luxurious and tasteful décor positioned on the central promenade with spectacular view of the Great Orme. Owned by the Beardmore family for the past 30 years, the hotel is managed by highly experienced staff and caters for both private guests and group parties. Visitors keep coming back year-on-year, appreciative of the top-class hospitality, friendliness, 1st class food and excellent service.

The Apprentice Commis Chef will assist in with the daily operation of the kitchen whilst ensuring that the company reputation for excellent food quality is upheld. The post-holder is also required to undertake an NVQ 2 in Professional Cookery whilst in the role.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items as directed by the Head Chef

• Assist in the development and planning of menus, including identifying future food trends and displaying a passionate approach towards the development of new styles of service and concepts

• Assist with stock taking, when required

• Contribute towards the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen

Client Service

• Ensure that customers are given a prompt and efficient service and expectations are consistently exceeded

• Be customer focused on all times; approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer needs People

• Gain an understanding of food costing, sales mix, and menu planning

• Ensure stock, deliveries and wastage are all checked and recorded in line with company and food standards Health & Safety and Food Safety

• Ensure that food storage areas are maintained in accordance with the company’s Food Hygiene, Healthy and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
