The Apprenticeship, Traineeship & Jobs Growth Wales Programmes, led by the Welsh Government, are supported by the European Social Fund
The Kickstart Scheme is a £2b investment from government to create 6-month job placements for 16-24 year olds, at risk of unemployment due to the pandemic. For businesses this means you can take on new staff and the government will largely foot the bill.
What is it?
Under the Kickstart Scheme the government is encouraging all employers, whatever their size, to create 6 month work placements for an unlimited number of 16-24 year olds. In return the government will cover a substantial portion of the costs including:
- 100% of the national minimum wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months.
- Employer national insurance contributions.
- Employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.
If you’re any employer who can use the help and are willing to improve the employability of who you take on it’s a win-win.
Can you create a minimum of 30 job placements? If so you can apply to the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) directly.
Can you provide 1 – 29 job placements? If so the government would like you to use designated Kickstart gateways, organisations that will act on your behalf to batch applications and submit them to DWP. Happily, North Wales Training is a Kickstart gateway. We can not only make your application but provide the wraparound support required to help you help your placements secure long-term employment.
